SnowSentry - The Problem
The Problem

Roof collapses
are preventable.

According to a survey by Paramount Disaster Recovery, there are over 3,000 roof collapses each year in the U.S., resulting in more than 20 deaths and widespread business disruption.

Making the right call on snow removal and building safety requires real-time rooftop data. Without it, the same questions come up after every storm:

1 When and how much snow should be removed?
2 Where are the most critical areas on the roof?

Knowing when and where to remove snow means safety and savings. SnowSentry answers both questions automatically, around the clock.

SnowSentry - Cost of Guessing
The cost of guessing

Without data, small problems
become expensive ones.

After every storm the same question: is it bad enough to call removal crews? Without sensors, you're reacting to damage instead of preventing it.

01
Structural damage
Overloaded roofs deflect past design limits. Without monitoring, there's no warning before damage occurs.
02
Wasted removal spending
Crews sent on instinct, not data. Dispatched too early, too often, or to the wrong areas entirely.
03
Business disruption
Emergency responses and unplanned closures hit operations at the worst possible time.
04
Liability exposure
Without documented monitoring, insurance policies and legal exposure become much harder to manage.

Know before
it's a problem.

The SSR-91 SnowSentry™ is a rooftop snow load monitoring system that measures actual snow pressure in real time. No guessing, no manual roof checks, no surprises.

Measures real snow pressure in PSF so you know the intensity of a load, not just that snow has accumulated
Warning and danger thresholds are set per zone, based on your roof's actual structural capacity
When a threshold is crossed, automatic email alerts go out instantly to every member of your team
Monitor every station from a live web app and see PSF readings, device status, and zone health at a glance

SnowSentry - How It Works
How it works

Detect. Alert. Respond.

Three steps, running continuously all winter long.

1
Stations measure pressure
Solar-powered stations placed at engineer-specified locations measure actual snow load in PSF and transmit readings every hour via encrypted 900 MHz wireless.
2
Gateway sends data live
An internet gateway usually located inside the building collects station readings and pushes them to the SnowSentry web app in real time via your building's wired LAN or cellular connection.
3
Alerts reach your team
When any zone crosses a warning or danger threshold, automatic email alerts go out instantly to every member of your team configured to receive them.

Zone thresholds
Organize stations into zones and set independent warning and danger PSF limits for each, based on your roof's actual structural capacity..
Instant alerts
The moment any station crosses a warning or danger threshold, your whole team gets an email. No app, no login, no manual checks required.
Season history
Review pressure trends across the full season and export data for engineering review or insurance documentation.
SnowSentry - Features
Features

Built for the real world.

Plug and play installation
Each station can be installed in minutes without the need for experts or customer-supplied tools. No drilling, no permits, no electricians.
Wireless communications
No extra cables to manage. Secure data transfer using robust point-to-point networking over encrypted 900 MHz ISM band radio.
Solar-powered stations
SnowSentry stations run off long-life batteries, charged by the sun. They operate through the night and over 60 consecutive cloudy days without a recharge.
Scalable Coverage
SnowSentry scales to fit any commercial roof. Whether you need full-footprint coverage or targeted monitoring of high-risk zones, the system is built to match your building's layout and priorities. Not the other way around.

SnowSentry - Installation
SnowSentry station deployed on a commercial rooftop
Installation

Up and running same day.

No electricians, no drilling, no permits. Your own staff can deploy the full system and have live readings within hours.

1
Place stations on the roof
~15 min per station
Lift or walk stations onto the roof. Insert the pole into the base, orient the solar panel toward the equator, tighten with the included hex key, and connect the cable. No permanent mounting required.
2
Connect the gateway inside
~15 min total
Place the internet gateway near a non-masonry exterior wall, plug into power and your building's LAN, and allow 5 minutes for the gateway to connect before powering on any stations.
3
Configure zones and go live
~30 min setup
Log into app.2KRsystems.com, set snow pressure thresholds per zone, add team members, and zero out the scales. The system begins reporting immediately. No IT team is typically required.
SnowSentry - Station Placement
Station placement

Monitor what matters most.

There is no standard layout. Some customers deploy stations across their entire roof for complete coverage. Others focus on specific areas where snow accumulates fastest or the structure is most vulnerable. We work with you to design a configuration that fits your building. .

General Coverage
General coverage roof
Most common
General Coverage

Stations distributed evenly across the full roof footprint, giving your team a complete picture of load conditions with no blind spots. Ideal for large flat or low-slope commercial roofs.

High Risk Areas
Roof step
Roof Step

Level transitions between roof sections are prime spots for snow drift and accumulation, often concentrating load in ways that aren't visible from the ground.

Parapet
Parapet

Wall edges trap drifting snow and concentrate load along the roof perimeter, making them a critical area to monitor on many commercial buildings.

High load area
High Load Area

Rooftop equipment adds dead load to the structure before any snow falls. The geometry around it creates pockets where drifts accumulate on top of that existing load.

Structurally compromised region
Structurally Compromised Region

Areas with known structural weakness require the closest attention. Continuous pressure monitoring gives you an early warning system exactly where you need it most.
